In common with our determination to help our customers manage and reduce the
environmental and social 'footprints' of their IT resources - as cost effectively and realistically
as possible - dataserv provides its own unique CSR policy, made up of a number of key
initiatives.
These initiatives all contribute to our customers' assurance that they can cede total
responsibility to dataserv for their environmental liabilities, as well as guaranteeing that there
are no legislative risks to their business through redundant or unwanted IT resources. Many
of these initiatives actually exceed the guideline specifications laid down by the BSI.
These key initiatives include:
- Managing our own resources and staff to ensure ethical, environmental and
behavioral compliance with all local and national legislation, as well as ensuring all
our activities are carried out responsibly and have minimal impact on the
environment.
- Managing both upstream and downstream supply chains to ensure ethical
compliance and behavior. We carry out audits on all key supply chain vendors and
customers to ensure that they follow the correct standards and in turn, their own
customers. For instance we audit all refining partners to ensure that equipment that
has followed our prescribed recycling teardown process at our own recycling facilities
does not turn up in other markets.
- Ensuring transportation and logistics are run as efficiently as possible to limit pollution
thereby reducing energy use.
- Actively encouraging re-use, rather than breakdown and recycling, where appropriate.
Combined with our radical breakdown processes, this means we are able to keep
landfill from IT products to an absolute minimum.
- Ensuring all employees and management are subject to regular review meetings
where environmental and legislative issues are discussed and policies set. These
reviews cover all our procedures and those of our suppliers that relate to our
services.
- Ensuring transportation and logistics are run as efficiently as possible to limit pollution
thereby reducing energy use.cal.
