Dataserv's Neal Saunders talks to Materials Recycling Week
London, 01st June 2007
Dataserv® has been involved in waste electronics and electrical equipment for 30 years, and
was set up to deal with the unwanted IT hardware in offices after businesses have upgraded
their systems.
Managing director Neal Saunders was from a mid-range computer leasing background, and recognised
that such equipment needed a disposal solution at the end of leasing periods. He started
developing programmes for this in the early 1990s, so is well placed to comment on the changes
that have occurred in dealing with e-waste over the years.
Back then, with no legislative drivers or much awareness around corporate social responsibility,
he admits that "no-one really bothered, and the e-waste could have ended up anywhere".
