London, 01st June 2007
Dataserv® UK is delighted to announce that it has become a corporate sponsor of Maggie's Centres
www.maggiescentres.org, a
collection of hospices dedicated to anybody who has, or who has had, cancer. They are
also work for their families, friends and carers.
The first Maggie's centre was opened in 1996 in Edinburgh at the Western General Hospital
and there are now centres in Glasgow, Dundee, Inverness and Oxford, close to major cancer
hospital treatment centres.
Maggie's invites people to take time out and gives them a non-institutional place they can call
their own. The organisation is currently trying to raise funds to open further centres in London,
Swansea, Newcastle, Cotswolds and Lanarkshire. The London site which will be based at Charing Cross
Hospital has been designed by the environmentally acclaimed architect Richard Rogers, (all Maggie's
Centres are built with the environment very much in mind) and it is scheduled to open at the end of
2007, it is this centre that Dataserv would be principally raising money for, running a range of
activities throughout the year.
The first planned Dataserv Fundraising Action is the 'Metro life hike' a 17 Mile sponsored walk around
London at night - 14th/15th September 2007. Dataserv has committed to enter a team of walkers, with the
Company will also be adding to the individual sponsorship achieved by members of the staff team.
