Energy-using Products: UK consultation on consumer electronics.
London, 14th June 2007
Following publication of its Energy White Paper in May, the UK government, through its
Market Transformation Programme (MTP) intends to issue a series of consultation documents
on energy-using products, setting out an analysis of how the performance of such products
will need to improve between now and 2020 and including proposals for product standards
and targets to phase out the least efficient products.
The first consultation paper Sustainable Products Policy Brief, Energy in Use: Consumer
Electronics has just been published. AEA Energy and Environment is the MTP’s lead contractor
for this consultation. It covers televisions, video recorders/players, digital TV adapters
(set-top boxes) and external power supplies/battery chargers.
